Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for Monday’s attack, which was the first on the university since the insurgency began. Leader of the terrorist organisation, Abubakar Shekau, had said in an audio message after the attack that more of such blasts should be expected.
The attack was carried out by a seven-year-old boy. A 12-year-old girl strapped with explosive was gunned down behind the university, preventing another suicide bomb attack on the institution.
